Abstract

The thesis that we defend in this article is the recognition of the ability of self-determination and free will for the elderly subject, or autonomy that assists regarding the decision about how and when, in case of incurable disease, deep and irreversible, intends to give order to life. It is, therefore, argue ethical-philosophical about the possibility of a death with dignity consequencialist based on the principles of autonomy, freedom and human dignity that respect will "last" or "first" of the subject. This argument will be taken duly into account the consequentialism and the deontologism, as well as the ethics of Beauchamp and Childress principialist through the weighting of its assumptions of beneficence, non-maleficence and justice.
