This essay is a reflection upon the thought of the Russian philosopher Mikhail Bakhtin and his dialogue with the state of research on education in Brazil, from the examination of theses and dissertations coming from programs in education (strict sense), from database of the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (DLTD). We seek to highlight the extent to which Bakhtin's theory has been used as a theoretical-methodological research in this field: the most common categories, the objects discussed, the sources analyzed, the results and benefits that have built to the understanding of educational issues, as well as the possibilities of building knowledge that emerge from the confrontation of reality from that look, this epistemological approach. Although we know that Bakhtin has not expressed especially about education, we believe that their contributions to understanding the world through dialogical interactions are materialized by the languages are of great relevance to dealing with the issues and educational settings. Thus have raised the appropriation of Bakhtin studies in the field of Education, as possible epistemological experience, highlighting a growing interest in science education on this theoretical-methodological, although still denote disproportionality under other currents of thought and methodological approaches.
