This article introduces the theme of the didactic manuals, aiming to discuss issues on teacher / student relationship mediation made by this working tool, with a focus on Physical Education. In this work we carried out a discussion about the design of the didactic manuals, addressing the history and theory of mediation as a tool in the educational relationship. We seek to understand education in the society we live in, through the discussion about the fundamentals of the teaching work, to find elements that could identify the historical role of the didactic manuals in the educational process. From the investigated literature on the subject we have seen that even with the shortage within the research and production and the almost non-existent production of physical education didactic manuals, available on the market, this debate is pertinent so far as a merchandise product as a possibility for expansion of capital, this working tool become a niche profit for the publishing industry. Understanding it, in the comenian perspective, as an element that simplifies and objectifies the socially constructed knowledge, it is necessary to search for another/other teaching tools that, without to vulgar or to evade such knowledge, enables further the development and the investigation that go beyond their didactic limits.
