Abstract

This case study focuses on research work developed by students in the subject of Research on Environment Study (RES) of the Degree of Basic Education in College of Education of Santarem. The main objectives of this work are: a) present the teaching methodologies used in RES; b) understand how the work on RES was perceived by students; and c) meet the investigative skills developed by students. The teacher training methodology followed in IEM includes a tutorial that involves three steps: Phase I. Contextualization; Phase II. Development of research and Phase III. Disclosure. The data obtained through an online questionnaire and field notes made it possible to understand, globally, that the work done in RES had a fundamental role in the development of research skills of students. Therefore, it was fundamental to the teacher training of future education professionals.
