One of the goals of school nowadays is to contribute to the formation of independent and critical citizens who are aware of their attitudes and their role in society. Many educators are uneasy on how to intervene in interpersonal conflicts experienced by their students. As we understand that this situation is related to the evolution of morality in the students, we search, through the constructivist theory, to understand how moral development occurs. Based on this theory, we reflect how educators from the early elementary years could think on educational practices focused on developing the students in the cognitive, affective and moral areas. We describe a real case to enlighten possible actions in school, which reports scenes commonly found in a daily basis. Through this case, we reflect on possible ways for our students to be able to solve interpersonal conflicts that they have to deal day by day with, so they can achieve the moral autonomy gradually.
