LITERATURE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER'S

This article presents the concept of literature for Portuguese Language teachers of the final years of elementary school, consulted through discursive question in a questionnaire. It seeks to understand the value of literary art to school teachers, by comparison with the literature of ideas expressed in the documents of Brazilian education and the theoretical perspectives that characterize the academic programs of Portuguese Language and Literature. It concludes that for the school teachers consulted the literary art has a fundamental value in human development and is able to rise above everyday language. It closes stating that the alignment of concepts work as a catalyst for public initiatives for the formation of readers in Brazil. Finally, it points to the need for further research on the conceptions and practices of teachers that teach readers.
