Abstract

This article addresses the issues surrounding the functioning of schools in rural areas in Roraima, a region located in the northern border of the Brazilian Amazon. The research delves into the dynamics of the opening and closing of these schools, revealing a close relationship with agrarian issues and their social and environmental consequences, stemming from the growing economic interest in natural resources. This economic pressure has contributed to the displacement of local populations, including people from rural areas, waters, and forests, deeply impacting their lives and culture. The negligence of the relevant authorities is also evident, highlighting the urgency of effective investments and public policies aimed at restoring the dignity of rural communities and ensuring fair access to quality education. The rural school is not just an educational space but a crucial territory for preserving their cultural roots and ancestral knowledge.
