Abstract

This article aims to understand the process of expropriation that forced the Warao to migrate to Venezuela in the 20th century and to Brazil in the 21st century and thus transform them into the people of the road and how this element became a tool of (r)existence in the migration. The methodology was guided by the theoretical foundation of Work Geography, with a qualitative approach. The procedures incorporate bibliographic and documentary research from public institutions and civil society. In addition, fieldwork was carried out to collect interviews and map routes. Therefore, the reflections of the investigation point out that the migration of the Venezuelan Warao indigenous people is associated with historical processes, in which there were external interferences that caused mobility and survival strategies in different locations, whether internally in Venezuela or Brazil.
