Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the perceptions of young Brazilians on the relationship with the school, their expectations for the future and school performance. Participated 3,081 young people aged 11 to 24 years, from different regions of Brazil, who answered a questionnaire on risk and protective factors. Data indicated that young people have a positive view of the school and their teachers. These perceptions are distinguished by age and school performance, and the oldest with better performance tend to regard more positive relations with the school. These aspects also contribute to differences in expectations for the future of young people. The importance of considering the perceptions of young people about the school is highlighted, considering that these are related to the academic performance and psychosocial development in a broader sense.
